Mabrouk ya Masr!

Bravo Egyptians!

Bravo Egyptians! Newropeans and the European citizens congratulate you and admire you for this peaceful revolution!

Now has come a crucial time of both plain joy and complex work: the joy of having put down a dictator with only your bare hands, the work of building your own way towards a prosperous and democratic future.

Europe, its leaders as well as its people, has not been particularly active to help you against this dictatorship during the past decades. Some will say that it is not the role of foreigners to act in place of any people. They may be true. But it should not be used as an excuse and a cover-up for what actually is the active support of oppressive regimes for geopolitical reasons.

And Europe has been too complacent in past decades to follow the path chosen by others, who decided, that stability in the region was the only goal, whatever the price the people of the regions had to pay. Therefore, in the view of Newropeans, now ... right now, it is time for the Europeans to get back on their historic and democratic feet ... and to fully engage with the Egyptian people in order to help them develop a prosperous economy and a thriving democracy.

Europe has the means and knowledge, that can help the Egyptian citizens to make a difference against all the competing forces (and there will be many), which will try either to restore an order similar to the one they have just thrown away, or to push the country into chaos. Meanwhile, if Egyptians want to revive the Arab unity project (and it is likely that the younger generations want it), there again, Europe should make clear, that it is fully ready to bring its support to this long term regional integration.

The future of Egypt should be defined by all the Egyptians, and by the Egyptians only. At least to help respect these two conditions, which have not been fulfilled for decades, Europe can put its international weight and its democratic know-how. And it should do it fully, with no prerequisite.

It is by embracing the future, that you can get the best out of it, especially when this future is brought to you by the younger generations of a multimillenary country like Egypt!
