During the months of July and August 2008, Newropeans will organize a major public communication operation regarding the 2009 European Elections and the candicacy of Newropeans lists in different EU Member States.

From July to end of August a meeting with Europeans where ever they are! The aim of the Newropeans Summer Beaches Campaign 2008 is to meet Europeans and present the Newropeans project. To do so Newropeans flyers will be handed out.

Politics is people, not concepts - European policies should focus on the Europeans, not Europe.

The communication operation is called the Summer Beaches Campaign 2008 and targets the dozens of millions of European citizens visiting the sunny beaches of Europe as well as some of its key touristic sites or cultural summer festivals.

If there is one single time each year when the ’European dimension’ definitely becomes accessible to a majority of its citizens, when the ’Euro’ becomes a very useful individual tool, when speaking other european languages becomes an obvious asset, when being exposed to other European cultures is clearly enjoyable, , ... this is Summer, when dozens of millions of Europeans are making a full use of the intra-EU mobility. This year with the extension of Schengen an even larger number of EU citizens are able to freely enjoy our newly shaped continental space.

And this is not because they are using this European space as tourists that our fellow EU citizens have necessarily turned irresponsible, with only a sea, sex and sun focus. Quite the contrary indeed ... provide something very different is presented to them ... such as a new political endeavour, rooting their vote at the next European elections into the only time each year when they can really feel European!

Newropeans expects to politically be such a unique concrete European experience : the sun can also shine in politics. The Salamanders can also bring warmth to EU politics. Therefore hundreds of Newropeans will join the millions of European tourists this Summer, from the Roskilde rock festival in Denmark to the crowdy beaches of Costa del Sol in Spain, from the large beaches of the North Sea in the Benelux to the French Riviera, from the Adriatics seaside to the Black Sea resorts, from Paris to Vienna, ... the Newropeans will distribute their leaflets, stickers, posters, postcards, ... about their future bid at the next European elections in June 2009.

Practically speaking,

20 teams of 4 Europeans will go by camper vans from mid July to the 3rd week of August along the European coasts in Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Belgium and Holland to meet Europeans and promote Newropeans (1 team will go for 1 week).
10 teams of Europeans (between 3 and 10 people) will go to main European rock festivals (see which ones on the map) to meet Europeans and promote Newropeans.

1. Newropeans supporter teams will criss-cross the EU :
from mid July to the 3rd week of August
20 teams of 4 Europeans will go by camper vans from mid July to the 3rd week of August along the European coasts in Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Belgium and Holland to meet Europeans and promote Newropeans (1 team will go for 1 week).
Newropeans will pay the fuel, the camper vans rental and of course the materials to distribute. The teams will take care of the rest. The camper vans are paid thanks to private donors willing to help Newropeans in this unique European citizen initiative. A SBC 2008 week costs 2.500 Euros for 4 people, 7 days, 1000 km, 10.000 leaflets, 200 posters, 2000 stickers, 1000 postcards.

2. Main European rock festivals
10 teams of Europeans (between 3 and 10 people) will go to main European rock festivals (see which ones on the map) to meet Europeans and promote Newropeans.
